Ruth Smyth is the Licensee in Charge at The Strata Professionals Australia, responsible for regulatory compliance and supervision across the firm.
Ruth holds Class 1 Strata and Class 1 Real Estate licences and brings more than 40 years of experience across the property and strata sectors. She began her career in real estate and property management before moving into strata management, where she gained firsthand experience preparing meeting notices, financial reports, compliance documentation, and coordinating maintenance and repairs for owners corporations.
That operational foundation led to senior roles across three of the strata industry's largest service providers. At Rockend (now MRI), she worked directly with strata management firms as a Business Relationship Manager and later as Strata Industry Specialist, advising clients on system use, compliance workflows, and best-practice operations. At Macquarie, she built and led the national Customer Success function for PropertyIQ, the bank's strata technology platform. At Lannock Strata Finance, she managed national partnership relationships and led stakeholder engagement across government cladding remediation programs involving hundreds of owners corporations. Most recently, at Strata Community Insurance, she drove customer development nationally, growing portal adoption to more than 2,000 users across 600 businesses.
This combination of hands-on strata management and senior roles in strata software, strata finance, and strata insurance gives Ruth a perspective few in the industry share. She understands the committee experience from the inside and knows how the supply chain that serves strata communities operates.
